The beach in general
Fourni natural beach is located in beautiful surroundings with a mountainous backdrop. Those who make the trip to Fourni beach appreciate the nature and the calm atmosphere of the beach.
The beach is covered with a mixture of sand and pebbles and the water has beautiful turquoise colours. Whenever the beach café is open, there are access to sun loungers, parasols and a toilet. There are also showers.
In the village of Monolithos there is a sign in the direction of the beach and this is the only way to the beach. Free parking is available right by the beach.
Child-friendliness
The pebbly shoreline and the relatively high risk of waves make the beach less child-friendly.
Water sports activities
There are no water sports activities to disturb the peaceful atmosphere at Fourni beach.
Beach restaurants
There is a café by the beach selling light meals, ice cream and drinks. It’s usually open when it’s beach weather, but there’s no guarantee. The café is responsible for sun lounger hire.
Nearby villages
The nearest village is Monolithos, located at the foot of Mount Akramitis, the second highest mountain in Rhodes. Monolithos has just over 300 inhabitants, yet there are a handful of restaurants serving mainly traditional Greek food. There’s also a small mini-market if you need some drinks or snacks for the beach.
Monolithos is best known for the remains of a more than 600-year-old castle perched on top of a high cliff. The cliff is believed to have given the town its name, as mono lithos translated from Greek means something like only cliff. If you’re in the area, you should visit the remains of the castle. The views are breathtaking!
